M. Abraham Importer was established in 1927 at 33 West Market Street in Wilkes-Barre, PA by the late M. Abraham. Mr. Abraham specialized in fine imported Persian rugs and personally hand-selected each rug that appeared in his store. His fine attention to detail is why most of his pieces were regarded as investment quality pieces and not regular, everyday commercial pieces.
After Mr. Abraham passed away in March 1975, his nephew David Abraham oversaw the business for a number of years and served as executor of both the estate and the business.
In 1974, Ali Kazimi began working for his great uncle (the late Mr. Abraham) and in 1989, purchased the business from the estate. In 1992, Ali Kazimi started an affiliation with N. Ben Chafieian Oriental rugs, located at 32 East 31st Street in New York City, to increase the availability of fine antique rugs imported from Iran (Persia). Four years later, Ali Kazimi established the M. Abraham Oriental Rug Outlet to provide customers fine imported carpets from India, China and Pakistan.
